Audrey Hepburn “Everything I learned I learned from the movies”

2 Jan

Audrey Hepburn “I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.

Audrey Hepburn was one of the most elegant actresses in all cinema. She had an unique way of being which transformed her into a fashion icon. Every thing she wore was suddenly transformed into a classy fashion style. Look up the word “classy” in the dictionary, and a picture of her will be staring back at you. Audrey was born in Brussels. Hepburn spent her childhood between Belgium, England and the Netherlands and Germany. From the childhood she traveled a lot and she knew to speak fluently English, Dutch, French, Spanish and Italian. When she was 6 years old, her parents divorced. Hepburn was a playful and imaginative child who discovered a passion for ballet by the age of 5, loved to read and was nicknamed “Monkey Puzzle” by her father.

Maybe it’s a little bit early to think about winter and i really enjoy this summer, but the designers already showed us their ideas for thenext winter. We are accustomed to wear monotonous colors in winter. But the next winter should be different! There is some time since i have felt in love with green color. Color of safety. Life. Nature. “Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises.” Pedro Calderon de la Barca said. I think that emerald green color is an unique color, it transform you into a mistique, lovely, sensual and sexy women. Let your next winter to be more colorful, funny and beautiful! Versace for H&M

21 Jun

The swedish low cost fashion giant, Hennes &Mauritz announced a collaboration for the fall season collection with the icon of fashion Donatella Versace. Interestingly, in 2008 she said “I respect everyone who does [those types of lines]. But the reason I didn’t do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand.” Her decision has changed so in 2011 she says “I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching their wide audience. The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere. “I don’t know why she changed her opinion, maybe because of the economic crisis, but i’m very happy for her decision!  Versace will also put together a pre-spring collection to be sold online in select countries. H&M is one of the low cost brands which have collaborated with the fashion houses like Karl Lagerfield, Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo, Comme des Garçons  Roberto Cavalli and recently with  Lanvin. I think it would be a good chance for boosting company’s image and for increasing  sales which in the last quarter have decreased, despite the fact, the prices of clothes remain the same but the cost of the fabrics became bigger. So! We’re waiting for november and for the results of this stunning collaboration!!!  Continue reading

Missoni’s Color Fireworks

8 Jun

At my italian language course we have been studying a bit about italian fashion. For years Italia can be asociated with thenames like Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana,  Gianfranco Ferre, Roberto Cavalli, Salvatore Ferragamo, Ottavio Missoni etc.. The expression “made in Italy” reveals the quality, refinement and a unique style and taste of life.  Our teacher told us to write an advertising phrase in italian relating with italian fashion industry. I wrote “Se vuoi una vita come un arcobaleno, cerca Missoni perche e di molti colori pieno” [If you want your life to be like a rainbow, find Missoni cause it’s full of colors].  Continue reading

Elie Saab [Spring 2011-Haute Couture]

14 Feb

Just a few days ago i discovered some beautiful fashion collection. Perfectly amazing one i would say. This “airy” collection is unique. Nude, peach, violet, black colors are so right for these dresses type. I think every woman would feel like a princess, so comfortable, unique, beautiful, feminine, innocent in such a dress. When i first saw this collection i felt in love with it… I would like to wear something like this on my prom night. Now let’s find out something about the designer, who’s name is Elie Saab. He was born in Lebanon, Beirut on 4th july 1964. When he was 18 years old he launched his Beirut based fashion label. His main workshop is in Lebanon, but he also has workshops in Milan and Paris [something usual for such a great designer]. Like Jason Wu [from my previous post], Elie started sewing as a child and his dream was to become a fashion designer. When he was 17 years old he moved to Paris to study fashion. In 1997 he was the first non Italian designer who became a member of the Italian Camera Nazionale della Moda, and then he had his first fashion show. He became an overnight success after he became the first Lebanese designer to dress and Oscar winner, Halle Berry in 2002. Berry wore a burgundy gown by Saab to the 2002 Academy Awards when she won for Best Actress. In 2003 he was invited by The Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture to become a member and that year he showed his first haute couture collection. ES’s clients are Beyonce [my favorite singer], Anna Kendrick, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Halle Berry, Angelina Jolie, Rihanna, Scarlet Johansson, Kristen Stewart etc. So let’s see what does ES propose to us for this spring! Black Sea Letex 2010 (International Specialized Exhibition)

23 Nov
